The striking accomplishments of multi-talented artist Susie Matthias

Susie is a painter and a children’s author.

If you haven’t stocked up on products to keep your organized in 2025, the art calendar featuring Susie’s work is a must.

Susie Matthias is multi-talented. Her remarkable skill is evident in a gorgeous 2025 art calendar that has been shipped to homes far and wide. If you haven’t stocked up on products to keep your organized for the year yet, this one is a visual delight.

Susie’s painting, Woodland Lake, is featured in the month of September on the spiral-bound calendar—suitable for wall or desk use—by Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (MFPA). In vivid shades of gold, green and blue, Woodland Lake showcases a picturesque water scene surrounded by fall foliage.

Susie discovered a talent for art when she was a child.

It’s striking. What’s also striking is that, along with being and accomplished artist, Susie is also an author. Despite being born without arms or legs as a result of the drug Thalidomide, this London, Ontario, based achiever is acclaimed for her abilities. Susie discovered a talent for art when she was a child and, with the support of her family, she developed her mouth painting technique. Since then, her work has won numerous competitions and has been sought out by art lovers around the world. In fact, her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was given a painting from Susie as a gift from Canada.

As a children’s author, Susie has written and illustrated Seasons of Adventure. It tells the tale of four young barnyard animals: Betsy the cow, Sammy the squirrel, Wally the duck and Hester the chicken.
Acknowledging the honour it is to be chosen for the MFPA calendar program, Susie notes, “The MFPA has so many incredibly talented artists who compete every year to be selected. I’m always thrilled to share my art. And I’m even more thrilled that my art will help support all of the MFPA artists in Canada and around the world.”

The MFPA is an international organization that provides work opportunities for painters who do not have the use of their hands. Member artists’ artwork is sold via holiday greeting cards and calendars. You can purchase artwork at mfpacanada.com/shopnow.
