It’s a beautiful time of year for a scenic drive. Especially when the destination is Merrickville. And it’s even better when you get to be part of the 2016 MAG Artists (Merrickville Artists’ Guild) Studio Tour and Art Sale.
This year, 30 artists are featured in 16 studios and you’re welcome to visit those studios between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. September 24 and 25 and October 1 and 2.
Often described as the Jewel of the Rideau, Merrickville is an historic village that’s situated along the Rideau Canal about an hour from Ottawa and about an hour and a half from Kingston. It’s well known for its architecture, attractions and artisans. During the studio tour, you’ll meet potters, painters, photographers, fibre artists and glass artists. A printer, a woodturner, a milliner, a quilter and a stone carver are also included in the eclectic mix of talented creators.
You can Check out the MAG website (www.mag-artists.ca) for profiles of each artist, images of their art, and the map of the tour. As tbe website notes, “Pottery, fabric art, letterpress, mixed media art, painting, sculpture, cold and hot glass, photography, collage, and cast metal” are all on show and available for purchase.
